Great first period, excellent third period. What was that during the
second, though? Sloppy stick work nearly cost us several times during
that stanza. Thankfully, Ilya was standing on his head. I have no
idea how we outshot them in the second when nearly the entire period
was spent in our defensive zone.

Also, Niedermeyer gets called for hooking on that semi-breakaway near
the end of the second period. Where was the call when our guy had a
clear run to the net only to have some Wild defender jump on his back
with stick wrapped completely around? Officiating was a bit uneven.
Only a bit...

When did the Ducks become such a dirty team? Disappointing. They
behaved like a bunch of thugs in game 4. Lose with some class. May got
off easy.

I agree. The pendulum has swung too far in the other direction.
After years of watching Kariya and Selanne get pushed around with
impunity, they've taken a completely opposite tack these last two
years. Tuesday night was a wholesale loss of composure.

George Parros and Brad May were both acquired for one reason and one
reason alone. But Selanne has even started fighting back a bit more
this year. Might be a Randy Carlyle thing?

I don't like it, but it seems they're going out of their way to shed
their "soft" image.
