Past results do not guarantee future performance. Just ask Ottawa. They
crushed Buffalo in the first three games this year, outscoring them by 21-5.
The rest of the season series was closer to even. Then the playoffs...

I agree..season stats mean nothing in the playoffs. Ducks went on a wicked
run at the end of the season...I think winner is in game seven.

I agree. You don't smoke Colorado in 4 on sheer luck. The Ducks work hard
and Selanne looks 25 again.

nope regular season means everything. We will win even with Jussi starting
in goal. He owns the ducks.

So you mean Joe Thornton should've racked up tonnes of points in the
playoffs then. Gotcha.

Once the playoffs begin the regular season doesn't mean anything.

Speaking as an outsider, I have no idea who to predict to win this.
Both teams have played great, effective hockey. As a Canadian, I gotta
pull for the last team of Canuckleheads left. On the other hand, the
Ducks are playing a great style of hockey - a speed + hit = win style
that I find infinitely preferable to the dull containment game that
Edmonton's been flirting with lately.

And I'm still mad that the Canucks dumped Burke.

You're not allowed in here unless you predict us (i.e. the OIL)

Truth be known ...... the Red WIngs series was a snoozeer !!! ... but the SJ
series was very entertaining !!

The Knucks will be dumping more than Burke and Crawford. Me' thinks many a
player will be changing addresses :(

Don't mind the bandwagon jumpers. After tonight's game, it's pretty clear
that the Oilers didn't put much stock in the regular season record either.
People like "R" enjoy trolling because otherwise there's no real emotion in
this series. It's not like the Oilers and Ducks have a history in terms of
playoff matchups (in fact, this is the first time they've ever met at this
time of the year).

TJ, you've demonstrated your own stupidty again -- in multiple ways, no
less, in such a short posting. Congratulations.

1. My comment was actually directed at Don Tootin, who apparently believes
that the opinions of people who post here make a difference to what happens
on the ice.
2. There are more meanings to the word "relationship". Get a dictionary.
You may find it useful when you try to pass 4th grade.
3. If you are not "on Usnet" [sic], then what do you think it is? I suggest
you read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usenet to figure out where you are.

A very curious statement. I don't recall making any statement
regarding my beliefs. For the record, the outcome of any game is
decided on the field/rink/court/pitch, and nothing more.

That said, across the boards and in just about every preview I read
from so-called experts had the Ducks losing in six to the Flames, and
five or six to Colorado. Now that we've firmly established that the
written word does not decide games, it can be reasonably suggested that
players/coaches could carry the same attitude--not because they read it
here, but that they draw the same conclusions we do from the same
observations. Otherwise, wouldn't you expect the Av's to have prepared
themselves a little better?

TJ--the very person at whom my comment was directed--seemed to
understand my response. He'll probably make me eat crow (or Duck) if
Edmonton does take the series in four or five. It's the beauty of
being a sports fan--you should try it some time.

In response to a woof posting by TJ, you replied "Keep underestimating
Anaheim. Calgary did. Colorado did. It's worked for the Ducks so far."
That implies that you think that TJ's negative opinion of Anaheim will help
the Ducks.

No, they [Avalanche] are just not a very good team.

Sure she/he would -- that's the kind of person who posts things like "We're
gonna win!" -- as though "we" are on the ice with the players, contributing
to their results.
