Hey Ducks fans,

Congrats on winnning your 1st ever Stanley Cup!!! It was a great
series!!! You guys didn't even need Sidney Crosby!!!! It was great to
see guys like Teemu Selanne and John-Sebastian Giguere finally get the
cup!!!!

The only thing I wish, was that Paul Kariya was back on the team playing
alongside Selanne, so that the 2 friends could have won it together.
Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne were the heart and soul of the Ducks all
during the 90's. It would have been nice if Kariya was still on the team
to win it too. Seeing Teemu win it was great, but without Paul Kariya
there, its kind of like seeing Starsky without Hutch, Bo Duke without
Luke Duke, Laverne without Shirley, Batman without Robin, etc, etc.

Also, I still wish that the Ducks still had there old jerseys, theres
nothing wrong with their new Black and Gold jerseys, but I like the
Purple and Green jerseys better!!!

P.S.
Also, did anyone else notice that there were NO series that went to 7
games this year!!!!! NONE of the rounds in either the Eastern or Western
Conference games went to a 7th game this year. Every playoff series in
the NHL this year was 6 games or less!!!!! I haven't ever seen this
before, and I have been a hockey fan for over 20 years!!!! Did anyone
else notice this!?

Thanks, Michelle. Pittsburgh has a few young guys that, if they can
stay with the franchise, will put you guys back in the finals soon.
There's no shame in losing to Ottawa--they're a tough franchise and I
don't think we ever really saw the best of them, last night for
certain.

I, for one, didn't miss Kariya. He was our first draft pick, was the
face of the team for most of the existence, but he was a soft player.
When he and Teemu were the top line (with Matt Cullen), there was no
scrap. Andy MacDonald, in my opinion, is a more well-rounded player
than Kariya because he does have a backbone.

As for the old sweaters, I get that as well, but I wholly understand
why those colors needed to be shed. The team needed to exorcise
Disney from the organization from top to bottom. There's no way that
would have happened if the logo and colors stayed. The colors
themselves were Disneyland marketing. It's like when the Penguins
switched to the more stylized logo--suddenly the team seemed more
fierce, more intimidating.

Finally, no I guess I missed that. I thought Dallas and Vancouver
went seven, but that's probably not accurate. I could check, but
right now I'm just delirious...

Yes you are right! After going to CBS Sportsline.com and looking at the
NHL playoff brackets, Vancouver vs. Dallas did go to 7 games. It seems
like it was so long ago, that I must have forgot. I thought that
Vancouver won the series in 6, so SORRY for my mistake! But still, that
is amazing, that out of all the series that where played, only 1 series
went to a full 7 games!!!

What does this mean? Teams are getting better? Teams are getting worse?
More talented players? Less talented players?

Heres the playoff bracket for all the series matchups:

I think the overall talent pool is greater, but depth was the great
disparity. The Ducks, Red Wings, Senators, and Sabres all enjoyed at
least three productive lines. The difference-maker was that the Ducks
forwards were equally adept in their defensive zone. Perhaps this is
the answer to the "New NHL" that instead of two or three top-tier
players to build around, a GM may be better off picking up seven or
eight above-average physical forwards.

Kariya is a jerk who ran out on that team for pennies to play for the avs of
all teams - jezz. He was the captain who split from his team for purely
selfish reasons - you are obviously much better off without him - screw em
